A contingent which includes 15 Hungarian police officers has
been assembled, said Istvan Samu, director of the national police
headquarters law enforcement department.
The contingent is ready to be sent to Austria if needed, said. A
large number of Hungarians are expected to arrive in Austria for the
games and this justifies the need for Hungarian police, he added.
Police will maintain heightened control also in Hungary during
the Euro2008 between 7 and 29 June, especially on roads leading to
Austria.
The Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that border control will
be reintroduced between Hungary and Austria temporarily during the
Euro2008.
